-Entry for English Class - February 2012 - week 4
In the blink of an eye, a new week has passed and I once again find myself in front of the computer screen typing in a new entry for this week. well, first things first, I was finally able to make a little progress on the second act of my short story. The second act is turning out a lot longer than I first expected. This week's entry is going to be longer as my teacher has requested we document our feelings on the recent drama competition that was held in school.
I was informed by Carmen that even if I did not want to act in the drama, I had to take part in it's preparations. I informed her that I would help in making the props in the hopes that I need not do much other than making a few ornaments. Imagine my surprise when I was told that us "props people" needed to be part of the play, well, if you consider scurrying on the stage while carting back and forth cardboard props as being "part of the play", we even had to practice carrying the blocks of taped cardboard back and forth. I have to admit that, when I read the script for the fist time, i was unsure of how it related to the theme...the theme, which at this moment I am unable to recall... Anyway, the people involved in the props department are, Yi Lin, Hui Qing, Edalene, Vin Sze, Rachel, Chai Lee, Jia Hui, Huey Xia, and me had to attend most of the rehearsals to practice, bringing out the right props on the narrators cue.
During these somewhat impromptu rehearsals, I witnessed many things i.e., Carmen's exceptional patience when dealing with obstinate people, the acting potential of a few people, and many others. I was also finally able to use the idiom, "every ass likes to hear himself bray" to describe a certain someone whose identity I will not disclose as to protect said person's identity.
Well, after all the frustrations that came with preparations, it was finally the day of the competition. I could see a few actors tingling with excitement, others seemed somewhat fidgety, for me, it was the feeling of a thousand butterflies flitting happily in my stomach. Finally, with all my strength, i pushed my anxiety down and stood up, it was our turn to put on a show.
Everyone did their parts exceptionally well, but in my opinion, the evil mastermind (Zhi Hao) and his loyal subordinate (Wee Han) did the best at portraying their characters, providing light comic relief for the otherwise wordy plot, I forgot my part and managed to rush out to get back a machine from the stage before the actors started their scene, phew...but we did it, the show went smoothly without a hitch, well, aside from my mistake, but I salute the actors who managed to get on with the show without making any sign of their surprise on the extra prop on stage.
After the play, we walked back to class, amidst the chatter of students conversing with each other, i could not help but feel somewhat happy that I was able to be part of our class' production.
When we arrived in class, we had a quick photo shoot session with our beloved English teacher, Pn. Monica.
Well, that's it from me, another accomplished entry, Yay! Until the next entry, Cheers.
hahaha~i am laughing now.....XD,hehehe
ReplyDeleteLol xD
ReplyDeleteThe actors did well. haha. Maybe they're too nervous to notice the extra props. Anyway, no one will know that it's not part of the props except the class so don't worry about it.
ReplyDeletePerhaps xD but I salute Zhi Hao and Wee Han for keeping calm when the extra unplanned backdrop appeared on stage xD they were shocked, but managed to keep their composure, and for that, the deserve RESPECT!! XD
