Journal entry 06

-Entry for English Class - February 2012 - February week 5

Oh my, what an early entry! There must be some life changing event or something that could make, ME of all people do my homework (in this case, my journal entry) EARLY...! Alas, no such event occurred in my otherwise humdrum existence, I'm merely posting this midweek entry as my way to commemorate this 29th of February that only happens every four years. No, i was not kidnapped, and no this is not my kidnappers weird way of demanding a ransom through a journal entry.
Again, this week has been just as eventful as watching the grass grow, i.e., NOT eventful at all.
The only somewhat exciting thing that is going to happen this week, is...well, my trip to Genting Highland later tonight, at about 1 in the morning. Here's keeping my fingers crossed in the hopes that I will not be like a walking corpse in school tomorrow, and here's keeping my toes crossed too that I will not fall asleep during any of my lessons tomorrow.
I'll probably be running on sugar and caffeine tomorrow *sigh* Better stock up on sweets and coffee before the trip!

Well, my exams are next week, so I might not post an entry, so, till next time my cyber-pals!

Journal entry 05

-Entry for English Class - February 2012 - week 4

In the blink of an eye, a new week has passed and I once again find myself in front of the computer screen typing in a new entry for this week. well, first things first, I was finally able to make a little progress on the second act of my short story. The second act is turning out a lot longer than I first expected. This week's entry is going to be longer as my teacher has requested we document our feelings on the recent drama competition that was held in school.

I was informed by Carmen that even if I did not want to act in the drama, I had to take part in it's preparations. I informed her that I would help in making the props in the hopes that I need not do much other than making a few ornaments. Imagine my surprise when I was told that us "props people" needed to be part of the play, well, if you consider scurrying on the stage while carting back and forth cardboard props as being "part of the play", we even had to practice carrying the blocks of taped cardboard back and forth. I have to admit that, when I read the script for the fist time, i was unsure of how it related to the theme...the theme, which at this moment I am unable to recall... Anyway, the people involved in the props department are, Yi Lin, Hui Qing, Edalene, Vin Sze, Rachel, Chai Lee, Jia Hui, Huey Xia, and me had to attend most of the rehearsals to practice, bringing out the right props on the narrators cue.
During these somewhat impromptu rehearsals, I witnessed many things i.e., Carmen's exceptional patience when dealing with obstinate people, the acting potential of a few people, and many others. I was also finally able to use the idiom, "every ass likes to hear himself bray" to describe a certain someone whose identity I will not disclose as to protect said person's identity.
Well, after all the frustrations that came with preparations, it was finally the day of the competition. I could see a few actors tingling with excitement, others seemed somewhat fidgety, for me, it was the feeling of a thousand butterflies flitting happily in my stomach. Finally, with all my strength, i pushed my anxiety down and stood up, it was our turn to put on a show.
Everyone did their parts exceptionally well, but in my opinion, the evil mastermind (Zhi Hao) and his loyal subordinate (Wee Han) did the best at portraying their characters, providing light comic relief for the otherwise wordy plot, I forgot my part and managed to rush out to get back a machine from the stage before the actors started their scene, phew...but we did it, the show went smoothly without a hitch, well, aside from my mistake, but I salute the actors who managed to get on with the show without making any sign of their surprise on the extra prop on stage.
After the play, we walked back to class, amidst the chatter of students conversing with each other, i could not help but feel somewhat happy that I was able to be part of our class' production.
When we arrived in class, we had a quick photo shoot session with our beloved English teacher, Pn. Monica.

Well, that's it from me, another accomplished entry, Yay! Until the next entry, Cheers.

Journal entry 04

-Entry for English Class - February 2012 - week 3
Okay, a new week means a new entry, I decided to post this entry a little earlier than usual because...well, I'll probably forget to do it by tomorrow...so yeah...well, nothing much has happened this week either, I'm starting to see the rut I'm making with my not-so-interesting life.
I have encountered another obstacle in my quest to finish my five-chaptered short story, I am once again, devoid of any ideas on how to continue the second chapter of the story. All my wonderful ideas, out the window, I am left with little to none as to how I'm going to continue the course of event in the story! The unmarked piece of paper, staring mockingly at me as I twitch my hand that is holding my pencil, frustrated at the lack of progress I'm making. The first chapter came so easily, the ideas flowing like a rushing river, I could see the events unfolding behind my eyes as I struggled to pen down all the ideas on a piece of paper. Now, all I see is the emptiness of the paper, begging to be filled with tales of Adventure! Fantasy! And perhaps a little bit of romance? But no, the paper is now like a wanderer in the desert, parched for water as the sun continues to beat down unforgivingly, thirsty for ideas, trying to find even the smallest trickle of imagination in a dry riverbed.

Well, that was a little angsty wasn't it...well, perhaps I need to look harder for that little jolt of inspiration to make my imagination start spewing ideas again... Again, not much for this week either, but it's better than nothing after all...Happy Weekend everyone!!!

Journal entry 03

-Entry for English Class - February 2012 - week 2
Yay! We're almost halfway through February!! For this week, nothing much has occurred, except my current obsession for the anime, Hetalia, this anime was faced with my skepticism as I did not like the quality of the art, so I only just recently checked it out as I had nothing to do, although i was asked to check it out 4 months ago.
Aside from that, I have finally gotten over my severe writer's block and have come up (with the help of a few close friends) a new plot for my latest short story. The story will be littered with references from both Greek mythology and Japanese folklore, ah all the research I'll have to do...let's hope it will be worth it in the end. I have so far only managed to write the first chapter of the story, but its an improvement, a slow and steady improvement.

Well, there isn't really much to say, so I'll just end this sad excuse for a journal post here...

Article : Night Without End

Bloodshed at Greenland
By Lim Susan

It was by obligation that I accepted the job of tailing the Marines to the somewhat deserted area off the coast of Greenland, I was not very hopeful of any event that could spark my interest in that cold unforgiving place where the most I did, was sit huddled up in the bitter cold. Imagine my surprise to be able to witness such an amazing event. Despite the harsh weather, what happened at the glacier that day, I will not soon forget. It was a bad day, even by normal standards, our vision blurred by the falling snow, the wind howling in our ears, as I tried my best to not lose the Marines as we trudged through the thick snow that blanketed the ground, the biting cold constantly reminding me where we were, when suddenly, a few voices, shouting, could be heard over the howling sound of the wind, though for the life of me I could not make out their muffled words as it mixed with the howls of the wind, it did sound however, that they were non too pleased with one another. The marines did not seem to be at a lost on what to do, they started moving with the type of stealth that would take years to acquire, so as to not alert the others on our position, for fear that they were enemies. I could feel the suspense thick in the air, as my heart started to beat quickly, adrenaline rushing through my veins. From the coast, we saw about six or seven men that came from fishing boats carefully close in on the loud group as well, their shouts becoming clearer with every careful step. As we drew closer, I saw the faint silhouette of a man, closer still, we managed to see, he was in fact, holding a hostage, a young girl at gunpoint.

For a short moment, I allowed my confusion to take hold of me, I was only vaguely aware of the marine's mission to retrieve some highly classified item that I was unable to get any information on. Anyway, as we neared the man, the marines held their weapons to their sides, ready to take aim should the need for it arise, the others with the man seemed to have seen us, as they tried to alert the man of our presence, perhaps in hopes that he would be frightened and give up easily. The man turned quickly, and when he saw us, his personality changed from that of a calculated killer to a crazed madman. He started waving his arms in the air wildly, all the while shouting furiously at another man. In a fit of frustration, he pushed the girl into a tractor and jumped into the driving cabin of said tractor that somehow escaped my notice. Another man tried to halt his getaway but was shot in the arm by the panic-stricken man as he fired up the tractor and sped away.

I watched in horror as the other two men chased the tractor as it started to spin madly out of control in circles. The tractor suddenly started to slide backwards toward some rocks at an alarming speed. Before I was able to register anything in my mind, the tractor hit an ice hill and crashed into one of the biggest rocks. The passengers of the tractor fell into a deep crevasse just as the sound of planes could be heard over the howling wind. The two men who were chasing the tractor threw themselves onto the icy ground, just as the planes from above started shooting at the enemies. One of them jumped into the crevasse and all was silent for a moment, I dared not hope for the best when I caught sight of the other man's grim expression.

By some miraculous stroke of luck, a crew of men rushed over to the crevasse, I noticed that they were the same men I saw that came from the fishing boats, they worked quickly and were able to haul up the girl, who seemed albeit shaken from her ordeal. They threw down two more ropes into the crevasse, My heart started to beat quickly again as the suspense almost drove me mad, and I almost leapt for joy as the man who earlier jumped into the crevasse climbed out with what seemed like a battered radio under his arm. I watched as he looked into the crevasse, his expression could only be described as contempt, as he threw down a whole coil of rope into the  crevasse, as the ice began to move and the crevasse was sealed.

Whatever happened that caused that amazing event to unfold, I will probably never know, but one thing is for sure, good triumphed evil that day. And the villain, met his untimely death, swallowed by the unforgiving ice, his story to remain forever a mystery.

Journal entry 02

-Entry for English Class - February 2012 - week 1
Wow, its already February, the month of Valentines and what not. Nothing much has happened so far except that this is the first of many journal entries to come that will be added weekly, as per the request *cough*demand*cough* of my English teacher. Again, as it is only the first week, it has been pretty uneventful, other than most of my classmates gearing up to prepare for the class drama which i personally want no part of, but i will be lending a hand in regards to providing supplies for some of the props.
Now I'm having two more days of holidays, to be filled with homework from school, working for my parents and of course preparation for my Confirmation in May.

Nothing much to be said, but here is my entry for week 1 of February, week 2 is right around the corner.

Journal entry 01

-Entry for English class - January 2012
January was just another month for me, other than the end of my school holidays. The new years celebration was the same as every other year, spent in The Curve because my parents had to work. There were a lot of people in the mall so it was really busy. The fireworks were spectacular though, but trying to watch the display was difficult because there wasn't a lot of space and everyone was shoving here and there.
Getting back to school wasn't very exciting either, just meeting up with friends and telling stories to pass the time, realizing that during the holidays i didn't write much so when i came back to school, my words looked like squiggly lines and holding a pen became awkward for me, so yeah, nothing new there.
Then before I knew it, the Chinese New Year holidays were here. My parents decided to close the shop for two days s we could visit my grandparents. On the first day, we went back t Klang to visit the relatives on my mother's side, there was so much of food and quite a number of relatives, some i couldn't speak to because of my inability to speak Cantonese. The next day, we flew to Kelantan to visit my father's side of the family, it was so, so hot there and there was a lot of people, I  got to see most of my relatives again, but as always, language barriers stopped me from speaking to most of them other than a few broken sentences in Hokkien, but we were rushing because we had to catch the flight back home that very night, the trip was very tiring and I collapsed on my bed the moment I got home.
Well, that about sums up my January...time for February!
